[WEAPON]
FIRST TSURUGI: The First Tsurugi consists of one main blade (Vigilante), one hollow blade that serves as the front edge (Vendetta), two identical (but asymmetrically opposite) blades that form the back (Merciless and Avenger), and two identical (also asymmetrically opposite) smaller blades that attach to the sides (Ascalon and Sidewinder). The First Tsurugi, much like the Buster Sword, is primarily a crushing weapon. Currently, the blade is seemingly wound up in bandages. These have yet to come off; so it is conclusive that he chooses to battle with the First Tsurugi always, and has never used any other means of fighting otherwise. It is speculated that the bandages have to do with his past, and a possible connection to his inescapable darkness.

[PERSONALITY]
Cloud is a man inflicted with a dark past, as well as his heart being induced within darkness. Nobody knows as to why he tends to avoid the topic about himself; no one except the other side to his heart, the source of his darkness; Sephiroth. One can conclude that his past consists of many pains, guilt, and regret, that he would rather keep his secrets where they belong. In his memories. This could also explain his demeanor.
Cloud is quiet, not cold of heart but distant from others, and with his past a complete mystery, some people would call him an enigma in a sense. His choice of words are usually brief, not very often speaking his mind with heart. He chooses to not get others involved in his own personal matters, such as defeating his darkness, and will either warn others of the danger about them or ask them to stay out of it. For their own safety, as he usually takes a burden upon himself given that he has no choice. Although he gives off the vibe that he is meaning to say, "If it is not my problem, than I don't care.", but Cloud will usually come through for others in the end of it all.
His heart is not completely shrouded in darkness; had it been, he would have more than likely lost his heart and sanity long ago to the very entity he had been fighting for so long.
[HISTORY]
Granted that his past is a complete mystery, it is unfortunate to know that his story will have to begin...from what the observant have seen of him. It would seem as if he was born at Hollow Bastion (formerly known as the Radiant Garden), his past being mysterious can be skipped, though it is safe to say that his abilities and the power to wield darkness with such ease as well as the demon wing that adorned his back, came from what had happened before the occurrences revolving about the keyblade wielder. At one point, his world was destroyed, and he was separated from those that he had once known. It was possible, that because of this, he had also lost his light. Granted his descent into the abyss of darkness.
However, just because he had lost his light, didn't mean that he did not wish to take back what was his. And upon arriving in a new world, known for its colossal battles that take place only amongst the most powerful opponents, Olympus Coliseum, Cloud seeked assistance. And what would he find? In a way, the mysterious warrior had danced with death himself, going as far as to making a deal with Hades. Lord of the Dead, who could grant Cloud his wish and help him find his light once more. Maybe now, he could finally get away from his darkness, it could go away. He would finally be at peace, and regain control of his heart that was now lost.
The only stipulation would be that he had to fight in a tournament, in the process, kill a man named Hercules. There were no hesitations for Cloud, if this meant he could regain redemption for his past and darkness. And so, he accepted. Fighting and dominating the standings, enemies fell one after the other to his incredible blade. And so it came, in the finals of the preliminaries. There was much hesitation to this. Before, his enemies were of a tainted heart, or even had no heart. For they were Heartless, monsters born of darkness within the heart. And yet Cloud was left untouched by them; possibly because of how he had closed his heart off from others long ago. Being an enigma served its benefits.
It was none other than Sora; he would be forced to end his life. Despite the contract stating only killing Hercules, there was no choice in the matter. The warrior was going to shatter a soul of pure light and of an innocent heart. This inwardly brought regret and pain to him, but what good were those at this point? He needed to keep moving forward in order to find the true benefit in the end.
And so, he continued onward, into battle with the boy of exceptional skill. In the end of it all, before the swordsman could have a chance to finish him off, he hesitated once more. With once cold and merciless eyes, they slowly returned to their former state of calm and understanding. About to deliver the final blow, unable to finish the sinister deed of eliminating Sora. But perhaps, maybe it was because of that secret little light in his heart that convinced him as to what was right. Maybe there was another way to seeking redemption, mindless killing and becoming a marionette wasn't the answer. Cloud, had stopped his darkness.
And wouldn't you know it; it would have all been for nothing in the very end of it all, for Hades had betrayed him. As soon as Cloud showed signs of hesitation to fight, Cerberus was on the attack, and took the warrior by surprise, crushing him beneath its massive paws. However, despite the defeat, his body was too strong to give in, and he managed to survive, after gaining help from the very man he sought to kill for his light; Hercules. As Sora dealt with the beast, Cloud was left to wait, to recover on his own after managing to escape. It was simple to say now that he had no chance for finding his light with the assistance that he once had. Once the struggle with Cerberus was finished, he had been waiting on the steps of the coliseum grounds, in silence, in deep thought. In regret for what he could have done to someone who didn't deserve to die. But he was not one to dwell on his mistake for too long.
Upon meeting the young teenage keyblade wielding boy again as he was leaving, Cloud explained his story, not of his past in particular, but as to how he had lost his light, and most morals as he could have killed the boy. Hades promised to help, he had even tried using the power of darkness to his advantage, but it backfired. Perhaps it is why he looked as he did as well. Formerly having a crimson cape and a golden claw, as well as a menacing demon wing. But it would seem as if the two had something in common. They were both searching for their light. He left the boy with these words as he returned to the stadium. "Don't lose sight of it." Who knows, maybe it was his own motivation to keep searching and to not give up. He had repeated this to himself short after.
But as the days ensued by, fighting for tournaments at the Coliseum as a means of passing the time, he found himself lost again. To only plunge further into the abyss of his mind for an answer to his prayer. What was his darkness? He could feel its presence close, this was his only clue; something told the blonde that until he could overcome these strings of a puppet, to stop his role as a marionette, he would never truly be liberated of the darkness within his own heart. And so, he cast his search for his 'light' aside to search for and vanquish the 'dark'.
And so, it led him to the arena where his fate was awaiting him. The Showdown of Fate. Even with their paths scattered, in the very end of it all, there hearts lead them back to here. Cloud Strife and Sephiroth; enemies that drifted to the same world, destined to square off in a test of what could conquer. The darkness that seeked redemption or the darkness that hungered for much more. It was long and epic, the darkness clashed with colossal force, but Cloud had triumphed. Seemingly, he had defeated his darkness, or so he wished to believe. As for the moment that, he had managed to pull through. No help, no deals with a god of death. Remembering what he had said. "Don't lose sight of it."
It was not long before he was soon discovered afterwards, once Sora had defeated Ansem (Xehanort's Heartless), that Cloud was drawn back towards his own home once more. Back to Hollow Bastion, to where he belonged, back where he could regain his light and start anew, with the right guidance in his life. Little did he know though, that his memories, his calls to darkness, the battles he endured, and the darkness that continued to linger in his heart brought forth a familiar foe. He was there, in Cloud's heart. Sephiroth, the dark half to him, had survived.
And for as long as a year he had waited and tried to heal. Of course, there were benefits. He had lost some connections to the darkness as he slowly regained contact with his light; the prime example being a change in his attire as well as the demon wing finally leaving his back. Darkness was slipping away until Sephiroth resurfaced once more, intentions of drawing Cloud back into the sorry state he was once in at an all time high. But he would not yield, not this time. Once he could defeat him, the darkness would go away, so he would believe.
Many times had he searched for him for a year, to finally rid himself of the darkness in his heart (to be rid of Sephiroth), but to no avail. Until the war of the Heartless against the Hollow Bastion began. His only motives were to Sephiroth, and yet despite acting like he would never care, he stood and fought with everybody else to preserve the world they were working so hard to restore. To begin anew as the Radiant Garden again. And yet, this no longer was for him a war to save his world. But as the One Winged Angel appeared before him, making bold statements as to never letting go of the darkness, Cloud denied these words, sword drawn and ready for battle. However, there was an interference before anything could happen. A light, calling out his name, and blinding him. It was pure yet surprising, comforting yet foreign to him; anytime she was near, or called out to him, there it would be again. That same flash in his mind. There was no picture, just light. Just Tifa Lockhart. Sephiroth managed to leave with one final remark of, "I am you." And to fight on for the war, Cloud decided to move onward, in search of the man he despised to call his darkness.
After the battle had been won, and he continued to search for his darkness, it would seem as though Sora was the first to find him. After proving his worth to the powerful swordsman, it would seem as though Cloud were to receive an invitation. One that he could not refuse by any means. And so, the keyblade wielding boy informed the warrior, and it was time to settle things about his past, about his darkness, right here. The Showdown of Fate had begun once again, and with Sora and the others on the sidelines as he fought for control of his heart, the battle was long and hard, almost against his favor as Sephiroth bombarded him with more lies, more words of deceit, more darkness. But where there is dark, there is always light (in this case, it was guidance). Tifa managed to intervene just in time to state her own case. It was his own light all along, but as she stated, in a place where the silver haired man could never reach. So what was left? To eliminate his darkness, and with the motivation of Tifa and as he accepted her light, Cloud regained the strength needed to confront him for one final battle.
Both took to the sky and disappeared without a trace. Sora was right though, Cloud went to fight a great battle, to regain his heart, to restore the light that should be there. And so, their fight continued, for the longest of times; their blades cried out to whatever world their fight had lead them too. With a unfaltering resolve to end the charade that was the blonde's and the One Winged Angel's quarrel, Cloud would eventually overwhelm Sephiroth's immense darkness, supposedly vanquishing the evil villain once more. Despite the man's claim that no matter how many times he fell, that the burdened warrior's darkness would always call him back, with Tifa's light guiding him through his deeds, Cloud triumphed...
However, not every victory was pure without hinderences. Shortly after his victory over Sephiroth, his entire world literally faded to black...as if he was forcefully rendered into submission as sleep overwhelmed him. Without his mind or heart's consent, Cloud slipped away from the world that he once knew, unaware of the shift in his destiny that was soon about to unfold. The page turned for Cloud Strife once more, only when he awoke once more...
His life was soon in the pages of a whole new story, beginning with the bizarre words that would only continue to confuse him.
"Welcome to the real world. You've just been drafted." A soldier among many for humanity, Cloud Strife would become a legend, albeit reluctantly. He would rise in the ranks to become the warrior that humanity needed him to be. His struggle against the darkness was over. The war for mankind had only just begun.
And yet it continued to linger...
And linger it did, his time spent in Econtra having many ups and downs. Discovering the aspect of alternate dimensions, fate bringing him to his very own other, a night of losing himself to the bizarre world of Econtra with Tifa, the spark of light from within a young girl...it was all simply more tales to add to his legacy, his struggle between the light and the darkness. And yet just like that, it was over...
As if he was a dream that could never be relived, Cloud faded from the world. He had left behind the memories that had been bestowed upon him during his time in a world corrupted by war. The dark warrior knew of this...and yet he didn't at the same time. Could it be possible that he had truly...died? What happened to the few that he could consider friends? He didn't know; the battle for Econtra as the Entropi attacked had come to pass in his absense, in his death-like disappearance. A part of him wondered if he had simply dreamed the entire world of Econtra. As if it was all one big fantasy...
...and as his eyes were greeted to something else beyond nothingness, to the sky, to a field of green amongst a new home, Cloud came to realize that the fantasy wasn't over yet.
Cloud Strife had finally returned.
